El Banco Santander y la Comisión Fulbright han llegado a un acuerdo para ofrecer un nuevo programa de becas para estudios de posgrado en los EE. UU. dirigido a profesionales del Tercer Sector. Esta iniciativa prevé la financiación de 3 a 5 becas para españoles, de dos años de duración, para realizar Masters o Doctorados en los EEUU en áreas relacionadas con el compromiso cívico y el voluntariado.  El objetivo principal del programa es contribuir a las necesidades de creciente profesionalización del Tercer Sector que en España ya ocupa a un 7% de la población activa y cuya importancia económica y social es ya muy relevante en la actualidad.

La necesidad de contar con una sociedad civil organizada y con profesionales altamente cualificados en las organizaciones no lucrativas responde a una demanda de la sociedad española, la cual cada vez valora más y mejor la extraordinaria labor que desempeñan muchas de esta entidades. Banco Santander y Fulbright quieren contribuir a esta necesaria profesionalización con este programa que ofrece a los gestores de instituciones del Tercer Sector la oportunidad de especializarse en las universidades de Estados Unidos más punteras en este campo, emergente en España pero ya maduro en ese país.

Banco Santander and the Fulbright Commission have reached an agreement which will open a new scholarship program for postgraduate studies in the USA, directed towards professionals in the Third Sector.   This initiative will provide funding for 3-5 scholarships for a duration of 2 years.  The scholarship will be directed towards Spanish students who wish to study a Master’s or Doctorate in the United States in fields related to Civic Compromise and/or Volunteerism.  The main goal of this program is to contribute to the needs of the growing Third Sector profession, which currently employs 7% of the active labor force, and whose economic and social significance has already become relevant in today’s society.

The need for maintaining an organized civil society relies heavily on highly qualified professionals in non-profit organizations. This stems from the demands of Spanish society, where the significance of the extraordinary work performed by these professionals continues to grow.  Banco Santander and Fulbright wish to contribute to this necessary profession through this scholarship program.  The program will provide young managers from Third Sector institutions with the opportunity to increase knowledge and gain more insight in their field of work at some of the leading universities in the United States.
